In this report all measures, trends and economic developments in the cultural and creative industries and the copyright industries between 2007 and 2017 are summarised to provide a scientific basis for the conference on art, culture and media during the Austrian EU-presidency 2018.

The Size of the EU Public Domain

Abstract: This paper reports results from a large recent study of the public domain in the European Union. Based on a combination of catalogue and survey data our figures for the number of items (and works) in the public domain extend across a variety of media and provide one of the first quantitative estimates of the `size’ of the public domain in any jurisdiction.

Österreichischen Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft

Bei der Beschaffung der Finanzierungsmittel, die sie für Wachstum und Innovation benötigen, stehen Klein- und Mittelunternehmen oft vor erheblichen Schwierigkeiten. Auf europäischer Ebene wird hervorgehoben, dass der Zugang zur Finanzierung insbesondere für den Bereich der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft ein Hindernis für ihre unternehmerische Aktivität und Leistung darstellt. Der Zugang zu Fremdkapital wird in der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft durch zahlreiche strukturelle Faktoren behindert: geringe Größe der Unternehmen, Unsicherheit hinsichtlich der Nachfrage nach ihren Produkten & Dienstleistungen, Komplexität ihrer Geschäftspläne und Mangel an materiellen Vermögenswerten.
